I agree that that sucks, a lot.  No one should feel entitled to date someone else just because they are interested.  But the “nice guy entitlement” idea will exist whether or not the idea of the friend zone exists, and denigrating the term, “friend zone” is not a good way of getting rid of it.  Fighting “nice guy entitlement” is really what OP meant to do, I think, but phrasing it as “the friend zone doesn’t exist and if you believe in it you a misogynist and also stupid” is not the right way to do it. The friend zone is just a description of a phenomenon.  The current common reaction to the phenomenon is problematic, friend zoning in and of itself is not.
